We feel very fortunate in the number of good people that we
know, and wish to share that good fortune with our other good clients and
friends. Therefore, we came up with the idea of setting aside a part of our
website as a place for you to come when you are looking for someone who will do
a job right the first time, on time, and at a fair price that reflects the high quality of
service you can expect to receive.
This isn’t free, though. The price of admission is two-fold: we want to hear
from you about other potential Preferred Providers you know who share our ServeFirst
philosophy, with the possibility of adding them; and, after you have used one of
our Preferred Providers, we want you to email us with your experiences, both
good and bad (though the latter should be few and far between if we are correct
in our assessments!).
What Preferred Providers Is NOT About:
A very good friend of mine recently referred his electrician to me to help with
a number of odd jobs around my home. He was on time for his first appointment
and a nice guy. The next appointment he was about 4 hours late. One job
involved installing a new outlet for a neon sign hanging near the ceiling on our
bar wall. I told him I wanted to get rid of the ugly extension cord
hanging down to the original outlet. When I came back to inspect it, he had
cut the hole to the side so you still see the cord and
outlet beside it…HUH?!? I asked him to install a fan in one room, for which he had to
go into the attic (we waited until November, to avoid summer heat). AFTERWARDS he
mentions to Carol he has a “small” increase for attic work. I
don’t call a 115% surcharge small! Finally, the third time he was due out was
a Saturday. He never showed up, but called the following Wednesday to tell me an
emergency came up Friday and he had to go out of town on Saturday. (Just call
me, so I don't waste my Saturday waiting.)
The point is, while most of the work was fine, the annoyance of
having to monitor him for common sense decisions and not knowing when, or if, he
was going to show was not acceptable. He not only lost my business and that of
my friend, but also all of our referral business. (See "Inside the
Home/Electricians" and avoid a similar fate).
